RadioFrequency

Radiofrequency (RF)

A completely non invasive system used to tighten, tone and smooth the skin. Ideal for areas of cellulite, sagging and repair after skin damage, this treatment is pain free and effective

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q.      What body areas do we cover with Radiofrequency?

ANY! All areas can be targeted, however, the most popular treatments are:

  • Skin tightening, after laser lipo or rapid weight loss
  • Stretch marks - perfect for the 'mummy tummy' or sagging breasts
  • Reducing fine lines and wrinkles
  • Cellulite reduction

Q.      How does it work?

The radiofrequency applicator is passed over the skin, emitting low level frequencies that penetrate the lower levels of the skin. This causes the cells to move, create friction and therefore heat the cells. The heat stimulates elastin in the skin, giving an immediate tightening effect of the skin. The effects continue after treatment - collagen is renewed, reshaping the cells. Radiofrequency can also reduce fat cells, although this is not its most popular treatment.

Q.      Is it safe?

Yes, it is completely non invasive. We are heating the cells to encourage apoptosis (programmed cell death) so that the body repairs with fresh new skin cells. It is important that you are honest with the therapist about the treatment, including heat and comfort to prevent burning of the skin.

Q.      Does it hurt?

No. Some clients report a heat sensation. Some find this relaxing, however, we urge clients not to try to bear the heat for a better effect as we also need to protect the skin. It is essential that the skin does not burn, otherwise you may be left with undesirable effects.

Q.      Do I need a patch test?

No, there is no patch test needed. It is essential that you have a full consultation with a therapist prior to treatment to ensure you are receiving the best treatment.

Q.      Do I need more than one treatment to get the full benefit?

Yes. We recommend a course of 6 treatments. We suggest that you receive treatments twice a week for 3 weeks. The results can continue to improve for up to 3 months after treatment

It is also important that you.The healthier your diet, the less likely it is that you will regain the fat cells or cellulite, and the more active you are, the more effective the treatment will be. We do not recommend treating more than one area at a time as the body needs to eliminate waste. After a course of 3 weeks, we suggest having a weeks break, and then starting a new area. We don't suggest working on the same area again for up to 3 months, as some results may take longer to reach full effect, and pitting may occur.

Q.      What other treatments compliment radiofrequency?

Our recommendation is laser lipolysis or cryolipolysis. Cryo or laser lipolysis will help to remove the fat cells quickly, and the radiofrequency will tighten and firm the skin, and therefore, the two treatments work well together, however, this is done after the full course of laser lipo treatments. You can find out more about cryolipolysis or laser lipolysis here
