FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q.      What body areas do we cover with Laser Hair Removal?

  • Facial areas - lip, chin, upper face (forehead and temples), lower face (sideburns, cheeks and chin), neck
  • Body areas - fingers and toes, nipples, hands, arms, feet, legs, buttocks, abdomen, shoulders, back and chest, bikini line (standard to brazilian), underarm,
  • We also offer packages with combinations of areas, saving you time and money!

Q.      What is Intense Pulsed Light?

Intense Pulsed Light, or IPL is a variable wavelength of light. It is similar to a laser beam. The light source is directed through a filter, which gives the light source a colour. This colour penetrates the skin, and seeks pigments and hair. This beam damages those pigments, causing the hair root to break down, and eventually (after a course of treatments) reduce the growth rate and strength, resulting in a permanent reduction in hair growth.

Q.      What is a 3 Wavelength Diode Laser?

Laser is a direct beam of light. Set to a specific wavelength, the beam will search for pigment and destroy upon contact. The diode laser has a wavelength of 808nm, allowing it to penetrate into the hair follicle and destroy the bulb of the hair.

As our laser hair removal machine has 2 wavelengths, it also targets 755nm for fairer, light and grey hairs, and 1064nm for the deepest penetration, bypassing melanin and making the treatment suitable for very dark hairs, and darker skin types.

Putting all 3 of these together makes for a fast and effective permanent hair removal service for all.

Q.      Which one do I need?

You should expect a full consultation with a therapist regarding suitability of machines. It is essential to your treatment objective that you select the correct machine. In all cases, a course of treatments will be required.

Our IPL also utilises heat, as well as light, and therefore has a fantastic immediate result, however, this is most suited to fairer skins with darker hair. The results are quick but are not guaranteed to be permanent.

The 3Wavelength Diode laser is much more suitable for a range of skin types, and will also target fairer hair, leaving a better all over result which is permanent, although results may take longer to become noticeable.

Q.      Do I need a patch test?

Yes, laser and light treatments will require a patch test. Not only is it crucial that you have a patch test to ensure the skin will not burn or be too sensitive to the light source, it is essential that you have a full consultation with a therapist prior to treatment to ensure you are receiving the best equipment to remove or reduce hair growth.

Q.      Do I need more than one treatment to get the full benefit?

Yes, we recommend a course of 6 treatments. To ensure the treatment is effective, the hair needs to have regrown in the follicle before the next treatment. You must leave a minimum of 4 weeks between treatments, so that the skin can recover, although it is unlikely that there will be any skin damage caused - this is precautionary. We suggest rebooking once you feel that you are ready to shave the area again

Q.      What pre-care advice should I follow?

For full pre and aftercare details, please download our treatment advice sheet below.

To make your treatment run smoothly, and to get the most time out of your appointment, try to:

  • Shave the area to be treated prior to appointment. Do not carry out any other forms of hair removal.
  • Avoid tanning prior to treatment
  • Be prepared with sun protection suitable for the area after treatment. This should be an on-going skin care treatment, but definately immediately after and between laser and light treatments.

Q.      What after-care advice should I follow?

For full pre and aftercare details, please download our treatment advice sheet below.

To enhance your treatment, and ensure your rejuvenation is as effective as possible:

  • Avoid direct UV exposure after treatment, and use SPF 30+ throughout the full course of treatments.
  • Avoid direct heat on the area as the laser and light will have heated the epidermis
  • Only shave between treatments. No other hair removal method is advised.
  • It is possible for hair growth to return following a change or increase in hormone levels
