This popular beauty treatment delivers results, whilst commonly being offered alongside other beauty treatments for an ultimate experience of wellbeing and rejuvenation.

Not just for the face, this treatment is suitable for the face or body, and will enhance circulation and lymphatic drainage, giving you a sense of clarity in the skin as well as being focussed on improving fine lines, texture, acne prone skin and pigmentation.

Q.      What areas do we cover with Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is commonly offered as part of a facial treatment. It can be focussed to target particular areas, or to treat the whole face. Premium facial treatments may include microdermabrasion on the face, neck and decolletage.

It can also be incorporated into manicures to brighten and reduce age spots or work on problem areas, or in pedicures to remove hard skin. Energyze offers body microdermabrasion on the abdomen, typically targeting loose skin and stretch marks, or you can book a 30 minute session, where you can target any area you wish to.

Q.      How does Microdermabrasion work?

At Energyze we use Diamond Microdermabrasion. These are wands with diamond cut tips and suction leads that provide a small amount of suction, keeping the abrasive tip in contact with the skin as the therapist moves it across the area. It is this abrasion that exfoliates the skin, and the suction that helps to remove dead skin cells, improve circulation and thus increase lymphatic drainage, helping to unclog pores, direct waste materials to drainage points, encourage new blood flow creating new skin cells, increasing oxygen, replenishing collagen and elastin, and improve general skin condition.

Q.      Do I need a patch test?

No, the sensitivity of the skin, and the level of suction will be assessed during treatment. At the start of every treatment, you will have a consultation with the therapist. During this consultation, you will have the opportunity to discuss any potential areas of concern you have in relation to the treatment objective. It is at this point that you should inform the therapist if you have any known sensitivities to the products that may be used during treatment.

Q.      Do I need more than one treatment to get the full benefit?

Yes, we recommend a course of 6 treatments. To enable the skin to continue to treat the problem, it will need to be treated on more than one occasion. You will need to leave the skin to repair between treatments, although this process won't be visible on the surface - so you will be able to continue with your normal activities. We suggest treatments every 2-4 weeks depending on skin condition and area.

Q.      What other treatments compliment Microdermabrasion?

Skin care or skin rejuvenation treatments. Microdermabrasion is a skin resurfacing treatment, and therefore, any skin care treatments or skin rejuvenation treatments will increase the effects of microdermabrasion. IPL skin rejuvenation treatments received alternately to Microdermabrasion treatments increase efficiency. To find out more about IPL skin rejuvenation click here. To make your treatment run smoothly, and to get the most time out of your appointment, try to:

  • Attend your appointment without make-up or products on the area to be treated
  • Avoid chemical products such as accutane in the build up to treatments
  • Be prepared with sun protection suitable for the area after treatment. This should be an on-going skin care treatment, but definately immediately after and between microdermabrasion treatments

For full pre and aftercare details, please download our treatment advice sheet below.

To enhance your treatment, and ensure your microdermabrasion is as effective as possible:

  • Avoid direct UV exposure after treatment, and use SPF 30+ throughout the full course of treatments.
  • Avoid direct heat on the area as the skin will have been sensitised.
